Do You Believe?
I LOVE this video!!! As cheese ball as it may sound, it made me realize just how important my job is. It's a little long, but so worth it!!! And keep in mind that this little guy is only a 5th grader! Enjoy, and happy back to school!!!

I suck at blogging.......
Well, it is official......I may be the worlds worst blogger. I have been home all summer and updated the blog once. Lovely!! Well, since I go back to work tomorrow morning, I figure out it is time to update everyone on the events of our summer.
Probably our biggest accomplishment of the summer was celebrating our second wedding anniversary on June 16th! We have successfully been married longer than many celebrity couples, which is quite an accomplishment. We didn't do anything too special because we were saving for our McCall Idaho trip. We went to dinner, but saved our money for our trip instead of buying each other presents. Here are some of my favorite picks from our wedding day!
The end of June we made the trek to Boise to meet up with my family to go to Payette Lake in McCall Idaho.......a Gehrke family tradition. This is the fourth time we've gone up there, but the first time for Cameron. It was a much needed vacation for both of us, but more so for Cam since he'd been working his butt off in Pathophysiology this summer in preparation for nursing school this fall. McCall is such a BEAUTIFUL place!! People always laugh when I tell them we went to Idaho on our summer vacation, but it really is a fantastic place to get some much needed rest and relaxation!! Unfortunately, Cameron had a test during the week of our trip that his teacher wouldn't let him take early, so he had to drive down the canyon and fly home for a day to take the test. At least he was in a beautiful place to do his studying! He did great on that test, as he did on all of his others in the course, and was able to come back and really enjoy his vacation!! Here are some of my favorite pics from the week!
The day after we got home.......we moved!!! No, not to the condo we were hoping to (refer to June's posting) but we did move to a new apartment in Midvale. The move was bittersweet for us since we loved living in my Dad and Cort's basement apartment downtown, but we decided it was time to move, especially since Cameron will be going to nursing school on 90th south and Bangerter (I think that's how you spell that......). We absolutely love our new house!!! It is just east of Gardner Village on 7800 south in the San Moritz complex. It is close to work for me which is also a plus!!! Unfortunately, I have no pictures of it, but will take some and post them next time.
The final major event of the summer was the return of Cameron's brother Matt from Brazil!! He is so happy to be home, and is ready to head off to college at UVU!! I was at school testing kids, but Cam was able to go and meet them at their airport and got to catch up a bit and hear about his adventures over breakfast. Greg and Karine were able to go to Brazil and see and meet some of the people he taught on his mission, which was really exciting for them. Other than a few hiccups (Karine's purse getting stolen, and missing one of their flights) they made it home safe and sound.
Other than that, our summer has been very uneventful. I've continued working on my Master's degree in School Administration and Leadership but for some reason I have lacked a lot of initiative with school this summer. I have managed to maintain my 4.0 GPA though. When I have more free time, for some reason I just can't motivate myself to do homework. I work much better under pressure!! I guess it is a good thing I go back to work tomorrow!!! Bring back the pressure!!!
As sad as I am to see summer coming to an end, I am always excited for a new school year to start. I've spent a lot of time thinking about how I can change my class this year to make it better for my kids. We will see if my plan works!! I'll keep you posted. I have a very interesting group of kids this year. I hope everything works out for the best. One of my goals for the year is to create and maintain a class website for parents. We will see how it goes. If you have any interest in the happenings in my class, there is a link to the site with my blog links.
Watch for more updates.....I promise they will come!! Especially when Cam starts school. His first round of clinicals are in a nursing home, so I am sure there will be many great stories to share!!
