Life

Believe it or not, I have been doing more than just exercisng lately.  So, for once I thought I would let you know more about the day to day existence of your favorite Romero's.

I wish I had something exciting to post about.....like a vacation.  But, unfortunately we are held hostage in SLC until my beloved husband is finished with nursing school....which will be here before you know it!!  Let the count down to May 5th begin!!!  I know I have said it before, but I am so proud of him!  He has worked so hard the past 2 years!  He has sacrificed so much to get this nursing degree, and there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel.  He is so smart, caring, and patient, and will be an asset to any hospital that he might work for.  I don't normally get all gushy and smushy here, but Cameron melts my heart.  Have I mentioned how smart he is?  He hasn't gotten below a 90% on any test yet this semester.  I'd say that qualifies his as a smartie pants!  67 days until graduation!  I like the ring of Cameron Romero, RN.

I've been left feeling a little uneasy about my job lately, thanks to the legislature and the way they are dealing with education.  The 4 years of funding for full day kindergarten will run out at the end of this school year.  Unfortunately, this is a program that they may consider cutting in order to pinch pennies, leaving me wondering what I will be doing next year as far as teaching.  I love kindergarten, but don't think I could ever go back to teaching 2 1/2 sessions of kindergarten now that I have tasted the "full day kool-aid".

Now, I am going to go on a teacher tangent......

The standards for kindergarten continue to increase, and it is becoming nearly impossible for 1/2 day kindergarten teachers to teach these vital skills to mastery.  As someone who takes their job very seriously, I would feel like I was doing an injustice to my students if I taught 1/2 day kindergarten again.  They deserve every opportunity to learn and should have to opportunity to MASTER the curriculum.  So, with that, I must ask you all, whether you are a parent or not, to do something to better the education of Utah kids.  Not only is full day kindergarten potentially going away, but also our K-3 Reading Iniative, which helps  tutor struggling readers as well as provide classrooms with paraprofessionals during our literacy blocks.  Take the time to write your legislators.  I normally am not a political person, but when it directly impacts something that I care so deeply about, I feel like I need to do my part!  The legislature's website allows you to look up your representative and email them.  I wrote mine at the beginning of February, and she wrote back the same day.  They are there to represent their constituents, so do your part and BE HEARD!!!

Ok, I am done with my teacher tirade!

Hopefully you all aren't bored by now because this next tidbit is pretty exciting.  You all know what a super-rock star athlete my sister is.  She is officially a professional cyclist, and can now add another item to her impressive resume......commerical model/actress!!  You heard right, my sister will be in a commerical featuring DZ Nuts products (who is one of her team's sponsors).  What is DZ Nuts you ask?  Well, I think this description, taken directly from their website, tells it all............

"Proper MAINTAINTANANCE of the perineal area is essential during high level training and racing. Nothing can ruin stage race success faster than an infected saddle sore."

--Dave Zabriskie

They also have other products for women from their BLISS line, like shaving cream, and something else Tayler told me (but I can't remember).  As soon as I hear when and where the commerical can be seen, I will let you know.  Until then, enjoy some pics from the shoot I took from the Peanut Butter & Co Team TWENTY 12 Facebook page.

Much love to you all!  Can you believe March will be here on Tuesday?
Only 19 school days until Spring Break Bliss!!!

Lighter

The past 2 weeks haven't been easy.  I've had ups and downs, but ultimately have been successful in my endeavors.  While I have been sick this past week, and the pounds have not melted off as much as I would have liked them to, but so is life.  I feel good, and I think I look good, and in reality that is all that matters.

To make myself feel better about the bumps in my road, I needed a visual representation of my successes.  So here it is......5 pounds of fat.......you do the math.

Times four.......

While success can't be measured on the scale, it sure does put a smile on your face.
20 is a beautiful number!

To mix it up a bit, today I did this instead of going to the gym.  It almost killed me.

I can only imagine what my body would feel like if I did this for 8 hours a day like they do on BL.

While I was hoping to reach 25 lbs. this week, I can't complain.

I think I can get there by March 1st!
